The team is the latest to have its car homologated by the FIA, with Toro Rosso, Force India, Mercedes and Sauber recently revealing the news.

McLaren confirmed that the MP4-31 has passed its crash tests in a post on Twitter. It is the second car powered by the Honda V6 Turbo power unit.
Fernando Alonso and Jenson Button remain at the Woking-based outfit for a second consecutive season as team-mates.

The new McLaren will be unveiled on the 21 February, one day prior to the start of the first four-day pre-season test at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.

Following a short break, teams will then return to the track for the second and final test, which takes place from the 1-4 March.
