Notice anything different? Max Verstappen had an engine change after FP3 and Toro Rosso got him out at the end of Q1 to complete sector times, but his engine cover flew off.
Pastor Maldonado was frustrated to just miss out on a spot in Q3. He was joined in the drop-zone by Felipe Nasr, Sainz Jr, Daniil Kvyat and Daniel Ricciardo - who didn't complete a lap in Q2.
Sergio Perez enjoyed a strong qualifying session and was seventh in Q3, ahead of Grosjean, Nico Hulkenberg and Marcus Ericsson - who picked up a grid penalty for blocking.
Hamilton stormed to pole position, with Kimi Raikkonen and Sebastian Vettel second and third, ahead of Nico Rosberg, Felipe Massa and Valtteri Bottas. Sunday
Hamilton went on to win his third race at Monza, but the result was thrown into doubt after Mercedes was investigated for running its tyre pressures below the limit. The stewards eventually took no further action.
