2015 Zoom F1 Charity Auction

Last Friday (16th January) I attended the 2015 Zoom F1 Charity Auction in central London.
The event took place at the InterContinental London hotel on Park Lane, with images taken by F1's biggest names being auctioned off to raise money for the Great Ormond Street Children's Charity.

Bernie Ecclestone, Christian Horner, Adrian Newey and Claire Williams were just a few of the famous faces from the world of F1 in attendance, and I was fortunate enough to be invited by Zoom founders Christian Sylt and Caroline Reid.

BBC F1 presenter Suzi Perry hosted the event and also had a picture in the auction. After an hour or so of catching up with friends and discussing some of the images up for sale, the bidding got underway.

Whilst Kimi Raikkonen's photograph was my favourite, I thought it would be his 2014 team-mate Fernando Alonso's image that would sell for the most, partly due to the fact his raised the most money at the previous event.

However, my prediction proved to be very wrong. It was still far from cheap, being purchased for £1,100. However, it was Ecclestone's photograph that raised the most money, selling for £2,400.

Graeme Lowdon's wonderful Ayrton Senna sketch image went for £1,400 and the highest bidder also received the original work. Jenson Button's MP4-29 cockpit shot was purchased for £1,000 and 2014 world champion Lewis Hamilton's river picture was sold for £800.

His team-mate Nico Rosberg's wasn't so popular, going for £400. Adrian Newey took a photo of his garage, which features a stunning classic Lotus F1 machine. The image raised £1,300.

It was a great evening and the event raised nearly £21,000 for the Great Ormond Street Children's Charity. Below are a few of my favourite images from Zoom's 2015 collection:
